The challenges facing people and the environment are complex. Nature in Mind aspires to help create opportunities for individuals to connect with nature and achieve higher senses of well-being and purpose, promoting stewardship and interest in the natural world. Nature in Mind integrates thoughtful interpretation of earth sciences and mindfulness practices to help the individual find their own connection with nature.
It is the belief that this interdisciplinary approach enhances creativity, resilience, self-awareness, and environmental stewardship. Nature in Mind imagines a future where nature is recognized for enhancing and promoting our mental health.
Nature in Mind was formed to help with a problem. The majority of humans worldwide now live in cities. Anxiety, depression, stress, and the ailments that come with them are negatively affecting us, and people in urban areas are affected the most. It's becoming clearer that we need more tools to self-regulate.
At the same time, scientific research backs the claim that spending time outdoors, without distraction, has surprisingly positive effects on our wellness and mental health.
In so many words, the goal is to get people outdoors, practice mindful techniques, and learn about biodiversity in the same experience.
Nature in Mind is about connecting people with nature in all of its forms. It is my strong belief that now more than ever, we need to reestablish a connection with the natural world. I am certain that given the opportunity, anyone can, regardless of their background or situation.
Nature in Mind seeks to do this by pairing mindful approaches and practices while exploring the connections of the ecosystem. The result is further understanding and appreciation for the conditions and biodiversity of the natural world, all while learning the skills to ground oneself more fully in nature. These are skills are applicable anywhere, and especially useful in the technological age.
Earth science meets creating a rich lived experience, if you will.
